NYE

Don’t even tell me that you are one of those Negative Nancy New Years Eve people. It’s overplayed and bad for your complexion.

New Years Eve is fun. End of Story. I refuse to entertain any other opinion on the night. You get to dress up, drink tons of champi, make out with a stranger at midnight and play with noisemakers and top hats... if that isn’t your idea of fun then you’re wack.

NYE is especially exciting in DC because people come out of the woodworks (where they hide for the winter months), ready to party like rockstars. There are so many things to do but you need to organize your friends early because things DO sell out WAY early. Here’s my list of amazingly cool NYE celebrations:

Neck Candy

I spotted this chickie at Tattoo on Saturday night... LOVE the necklace.  Thoughts?

dc.metromix.com

Have you ever wondered if there was more to life, other than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?

You need to check out www.dc.metromix.com.  Not only can you find out what cool events are taking place soon in DC and read about the parties and fundraisers that you weren’t invited to, this site is like a visitors center for locals… everything you need to navigate the city and more. So now you will know where to show off your Blue Steel pose around town.

Sat, Nov 15th

Midtown is opening bitchessssssss!! Not the section of DC near Dupont Circle, THE BAR STUPID (me yelling in your face)!

Ok I’m so excited about Midtown because it is taking over where Play left off but it’s going to be even cooler (if that’s possible).  I was a huge fan of Play for months and months after it opened… actually up until it closed I was still going there on a regular basis. I felt like it was always the place to be seen plus they played the best music and had that hot girl on the stripper poll every weekend.  I’m not normally attracted to women, but this chick was HOT.  I would find myself mesmerized by her unbelievable dance moves.  I think I even went home and tried to reenact her moves in my bedroom mirror a few times.

Cap File party at Lotus

It’s great to see people dress up in DC and on Friday night at the one year anni party at Lotus hosted by Capital File Mag and DC Metromix, people were lookin’ fine!  Not only was the crowd incredibly good looking (they got it from their mammas), they also left their ripped TR jeans and Uggs at home and opted for more demur looks.

Boomerang Bus – Last Stop: Tattoo

I have to admit that Thursday night was my first time partying at Tattoo (I know, I’m such a loser and the last person left in DC who hadn’t been there) and now I see what all the hype was about.  This place is freaking awesome!

I’m not sure if it was the 80’s music mixed with my fave new songs, the hot crowd or the décor that had me at “hello,” but right when I walked in my head started to bob kinda like the Roxbury guys on Saturday Night Live (but in a much cooler way).

Who am I and why should you read my blog?

Some call me LP or Poni but if you promise to read my blog, you can call me anything you want.

Like most people in DC, I work hard, play hard and like to pretend that I’m kind-of a big deal.  I’ve been going out in this town for many years so I can spot a fun party with cool people from a mile away.  I have worked in the marketing and PR world for almost 10 years, currently working as the District Marketing Manager for glacéau vitaminwater (which is an amazing hangover cure, you should probably be drinking it right now).

The Michael Romeo Group

In case you’re not familiar with The Michael Romeo Group, here’s a quick rundown: it is run by the cool kids in town and they have created a group of unique venues including Tattoo, Lotus, Midtown and Fur (with more coming soon!).  You want to be them and you want to hang out at their clubs.

Each location def has a different vibe/scene, but they are all awesome.  This group really knows how to do it right: the best DJs, the best sound systems, the hottest bartenders, the city’s VIPs and awesome customer service.
